Mental health support during and after pregnancy

Mental health support during and after pregnancies for patients and carers.

ASOP PCN > Local Support & Advice > Mental health > Mental health support during and after pregnancy
The Perinatal Mental Health Service provides community-based treatment and support for mums, mums-to-be and their families. The service is available to women during the perinatal period (during pregnancy and up to the baby’s first birthday) who are experiencing or are likely to experience mental health difficulties.

Maternity Direct+

Through the Basildon Hospital’s Maternity Direct+ service, mums, mums-to-be and their families can ask non-urgent questions about their pregnancy 7 days a week online and via social media.

A team of experienced NHS midwives are on hand to reply to any non-urgent questions or concerns between 7am-9pm, 7 days a week.

The service provides supportive information that you know you can trust to improve the whole maternity journey. In addition, the midwives also offer a “Call You Back” service. All you need to do is leave your number via your Facebook message and a midwife will call you back (usually within an hour).

The midwives are also here for pre-pregnancy questions and concerns too. If you are planning on having a baby, just contact the Maternity Direct+ team.
